Does anyone care about non-prize tournaments?

I've noticed a pattern that isn't too surprising...nobody is playing non-prize tournaments. I realize it's fun to play and get something, but is there no fun in playing in tournaments just to win? If most folks are only interested in playing for goodies then I'll reduce the number of non-prize tournaments and it will make my life a whole lot easier.

Or if we went back to the standard leaderboard...would that motivate folks to play when there's nothing at stake? Do bragging rights mean anything?

More Expert-only being scheduled

In response to some feedback from Experts regarding the All-In style tourneys, I will try my best to do a better job of also scheduling more Expert-only brackets. I admit I've been focusing on the All tournaments to get people more involved, but realize I need to give the Experts some good healthy competition that they know is real.

However, since I can no longer enforce skill levels, I don't feel I can schedule Easy/Med/Hard-only tournaments because anyone could join, including Expert players.

The All-In brackets will still be scheduled and will probably still be the bulk of public tournaments. My only checks and balances are you guys, so please comment or send mail if things start to get too heavy one way or another.

Band Geek Hero is sure to fill the niche

Got passed along something many have probably seen already, Band Geek Hero. It's not a game...at least not yet, but the T's are sure to be a hit on the football field. I'm sure Glockenspiel Hero is something we can all relate to.

Check out the surprisingly comprehensive selection at Band Geek Hero

Saturday afternoon site troubles, need feedback

For reasons unknown, the web site was down during times on Saturday (7/12) afternoon. From my own personal checks it seemed to be off and on throughout the morning hours until now (8:15p). There may be a chance this outage effected score checking. If you were involved in one of these tourneys and know that your scores were affected and not collected, please comment send e-mail and the tourney can get DQ'ed. I won't take action unless it makes a difference to everybody.

Hopefully tonight's brackets will go as planned and the site will be stable the rest of the weekend.

New players please try again

A bug in the sign-up for new players was just brought to my attention and just fixed. If you were new to Angry Edison and couldn't sign-up, please try again. It should work now. Players that were in the system pre-Aerosmith, you never saw the problem.

This bug was related to a host of changes made when Aerosmith was release and GH.com changed.

Sorry for the trouble...hope we didn't lose to many new rockers. If you know someone that tried to sign-up and couldn't, please ask them to try again.

Welcome new Tour Group friends

Just a quick welcome to a couple of new Tour Group friends; The Souther Illinois Rockers and Vicious and Delicious groups. Both will be using Angry Edison for their on-line tournaments. So a big thanks to them for the support!

And if you are a tour group leader or member and use Angry Edison for your brackets, drop me a mail with a 728x90 banner and link and I'll add you to the Tour Groups page and you might just get some new members.

Shred, White, and Blue! this weekend

It's a nice long weekend coming up and we plan on making it rock just a little bit harder. We've loaded up the brackets with some extra goodies this time, including our own custom vinyl skins. They're pretty sweet, so look out for them. Plus we've tossed in some bonus gift cards and even a key chain or two that we found left over.

Hoping you all have a safe and fun holiday!!

GH3 Tournaments are good to go, thanks

The few tournaments that were held Sunday and Monday proved enough to me that the changes I made to account for the new GH.com are reliable. I'm not happy about having to ask folks for their player names and the lack of skill enforcement, but I guess that's the way it goes.

Thanks to everyone that played in these early week tournaments. It was a HUGE help in making sure everything worked under normal play conditions.

And with that, this weekend's tourneys will go up here shortly and should make everyone's 4th of July rock just a little bit harder.

Thanks for everyone's support!
